Portsmouth Wine Society

Portsmouth Wine Society (originally known as the Portsmouth Wine Appreciation Circle) was formed in 1976 by Peter Richards with the objective of studying and appreciating professionally made wine. The objective is achieved mainly by evening tastings arranged by Committee members with wine educators, Masters of Wine (MW), growers, producers, merchants and wine promotion bodies. Vineyards and cellars are also occasionally visited.

The Society is a non-profit making organisation. The cost of each function depends upon the cost of the wines that are tasted, speaker and venue costs.

There is an Annual Membership Subscription - currently £7 for singles and £12 for couples payable upon joining and thereafter, annually as determined at the Annual General Meeting. Membership is by invitation but we welcome new members. Click here for more details.
